Adoption Bible Study

One of the things that I want to do while I am here is work on a project I have started because I believe God has asked me to do this. I have started writing an adoption Bible study for families who are in the process or just finished it. I have some lessons written but need several more. So since most of my blog readers are adoptive parents, I thought it would be neat to get your input! If you have a specific verse, testimony or lesson that God really used adoption to speak to you, I would love to hear it! Leave a comment! I know from my work with families that God uses each and every adoption to transform the parents as well as the child...and often entire families. I always say I must be a slow learner because He has to take us through three adoptions! ha!

I look forward to reading your comments! Off to bed now...the eyelids are getting a little droopy and I am ready to get out of the clothes I have been wearing for the last 36 hours! :)

Isaiah 42:16 (New International Version)
16 I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
I will not forsake them.

All my LOVE and prayers for all of the parents and the children!!
God bless you!

One more:

The Message
Col. 1:11-12
We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul, not the grim strength of gritting your teeth, but the glory strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that He has for us.

James 1:27
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Psalm 68:5-6
5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
6 God sets the lonely in families,he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

Philippians 1:6
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Recognizing God's heart for the orphans is what got us started in the process. Remembering that God is the Blessed Controller of All things and that He is working everything together for His purposes and His glory - has been what has kept us in the process in the midst of difficulties, painful disappointments, and so many things that we don't understand with our finite minds. Just knowing that it's God's journey and not ours, is a great source of comfort. Only our sovereign Lord could accomplish the task of working even our sins, failures and the evil that surrounds us for our good and his glory! We praise God that all we have to do is be obedient one step at a time. The end result is always in God's hands.

So thankful to hear everyone has arrived safely! Praying for you and the families traveling with you.

Love,
Donna

Hollyann, I've been praying for days ahead of time and specifically for your time to go smoothly and I prayed specifically that you would have an easy time through the airport in Liberia and I'm SO excited to hear how God got you through there so easily!!!! My prayers have been with such faith and confidence and I just can't WAIT to see how else he blesses your trip!

God has taught me through this adoption that He is ABSOLUTELY 100 % in control. He is God, I am not. He loves these kids much more than I do and will accomplish his purposes for them. I've never prayed so much, "your will be done God".

God has also taught me not to fear man but fear him alone. There has been so much judgement for what we are doing and I've realized how much I want people's approval. That has been shattered so I've had to much more find my identity and approval in God alone.

PRAYING OVER HERE! God bless you!

I think God is usually teaching us through adoption that he is in CONTROL!!! At least that is what I have learned, only he can add a child to a family. Praying for you!!!!

Hi HollyAnn,
I've been out of blogland for a while, but had you on my mind, so thought I would check in. So glad you made it safely and it's wonderful to hear that the airport experience is getting better.

I love this idea about an adoption bible study. I'll give it some thought and get back to you. My brain is currently mush.

Once you get home and settled for a while, I would love to give you a call and chat if you don't mind. It's time for us to make a decision about #5.

Will be praying for you and your family.

Love,
Missy

Acts 5:38b-39, "For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God." (NIV)

Praying for you and each member of your family by name......

But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day.
